Here at Lakeside, we like to say that we simply believe the Bible, period. Listed below is a basic summary of our core beliefs:
We believe that the Bible is God’s final & complete revelation to man & that He used holy, inspired men of God to give us His written Word. We also believe that God has perfectly preserved His revelation to the English speaking world in the King James Version of the Bible.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalms 119:89
We believe there is only one true & living God who has revealed Himself in three Persons of the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit. This Godhead is equal in essence, yet different in personality.
Genesis 1:1,26; 1 Corinthians 8:5-6
We believe that the Lord Jesus is both the Son of God and God the Son who lives and lived a sinlessly perfect life in order to die a subsitutionary death for sinners.
We believe in the literal and supernatural virgin birth of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit & is both the Son of God & God the Son.
We believe that Jesus Christ rose from the grave literally and bodily before ascending back to Heaven. We believe that He will also return in the rapture to gather all believers unto Himself in the same manner.
Matthew 28:5,6; Luke 1:26-35; John 10:30, 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; 2 Corinthians 5:20; Hebrews 4:15
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Godhead. The Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ as He is also known, fulfills an important role today by convicting the unbeliever of sin, righteousness and judgment. The Holy Spirit draws along side believers as the Comforter who seals, guides, witnesses & sets apart God's children for holy living.
John 14:26; 15:26; Romans 8:16
We believe Satan is the enemy of God. Lucifer as he is also known was once a holy angelic being who fell due to his pride. The Devil actively tries to blind & deceive the hearts of people from God. Satan is the Christians adversary & also tempts and accuses the believer as he lives for God.
Isaiah 14:12-15; 1 Peter 5:8
We believe that the local church is the gathering of born again and scripturally baptized believers who are joined together by a covenant of faith to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). We believe that the Lord gave two specific ordinances of baptism by immersion & the observance of the Lord’s Supper to the Local Church.
Acts 2:41,42; 1 Corinthians 11:24-25; 12:12-20
We believe that the world was created in a literal six day period as described in the Genesis account. We believe that mankind was made in the image of God, and after His own likeness & reject Darwin's evolutionary theory.
Genesis 1:1-2:1; Colossians 1:16-17
We believe that man was created in a pure & innocent state, but willfully choose to transgress the law of God. Due to the first man, Adam’s, transgression, all men born since are born as sinners with a sin nature. This truth stresses the importance of the gospel message which proclaims Jesus Christ as the Second Adam who died to redeem those under the curse of Adam's sin.
Genesis 3:1-6; Ezekiel 18:19-20; Ephesians 2:1-3 & 1 Corinthians 15:22
We believe that God’s redemptive grace of forgiveness & eternal life is a free gift through the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ. This redemptive grace forgives us of all our sins (past, present & future).
We believe that true salvation requires biblical repentance. Such repentance is brought about by the working of the Holy Spirit who convicts sinners of the realty of their sin nature and their need for a Savior.
True Salvation is as the Scripture says, "Unto all, but upon all them that believe." The Bible expressly states that repentant sinners will, by faith, confess with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus Christ is Lord & Savior. Once someone is saved, they are justified before God. Such justification includes the pardon of sin & the imputation of the righteousness of Christ.
Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 3:33; 6:23 & 10:9-10,13
We at Lakeside Baptist Church realize that there are many different interpretations of Scripture, so we have a more detailed statement of faith and a church constitution available upon request. In the spirit of transparency, we want people to know what we believe and why we believe it. We also believe that all Christians should understand the purpose of the gathering of the local church and the principles that govern each unaffiliated body.
